The War over Truth
Wars can be and usually are about many things. Sometimes about land, sometimes about a resource like Notum, but most often about different ideologies or differences between people.
The Omni-Tek way has ever been after the corporate model and its department of "Omni-Reform". Telling people what it wants them to know and believe. It does not encourage people to find answers for themselves, but rather to accept what they are told by their superiors. Independent thought which disagrees with corporate policy has never been supported, thus why workers wanting to discuss better working conditions were forced to riot to be listened to.
The Clans on the other hand once rallied the largest and most powerful groups together to form a "Council of Truth" dedicated to seeking answers rather than forcing them upon other people. A great body of philosophers, tacticians, and scholars who discovered truths, gave wisdom in Clan disputes, and mediated agreements between the people of Rubi-Ka and the intergalactic corporation which dominates Rubi-Ka. This was possible because the Clans of Rubi-Ka were free to go seeking. Of the Dust Brigade terrorists, Sentinel Warriors, and Council of Truth seekers, who has Omni-Tek come down hardest on to stop? Why is Omni-Tek afraid of people seeking truth for themselves but okay with Clan Sentinels raiding and disrupting their notum operations?
Because controlling what the populace believes is even more important to them than momentary profits.
Unfortunately Omni-Tek had a dreadfully successful solution to the problem posed by the Council of Truth. First impose upon their freedom with false allegations and agreements the Council would uphold out of honor, even though Omni-Tek discarded the Tir accord as soon as they forced the dissolution of the Council. They allowed the Clan Sentinels to take control of Tir, because even more so than the ICC the Sentinel despots are similar to Omni-Tek in that they fear the truth and a rule of the people. The capitol of the Clans remains off-limits to the Clans.
Truth should be our goal, but we must never forget that we must first be free to seek it. The Council of Truth was insufficient and crumbled against Omni-Tek opposition. It also divided the Clans as often as uniting it and made us unable to act against hostile actions.
We must grow intellectually and spiritually from our own history!
I propose a "Council of Freedom" be formed to act to insure and protect the civil liberties of the citizens of Rubi-Ka. This council rather than the Council of Truth should be armed with a united Clan force to serve the people and protect us from oppressors and criminals such as Clan Sentinels, Omni-Tek, Midia & The Dust Brigade, or whatever guise evil may wear.
Old Athen still remains a true Clan city in its heart if not in its skin. It was the first liberated city of the Clans and I advise we hold the Council of Freedom there as part of the restoration process of the city. Its first and number one mandate should be to make way for the restoration of the Council of Truth, which can continue in its old functions of law, philosophy, and diplomacy under the protection of a Freedom Council.
Together we can unite the free peoples of Rubi-Ka in harmony together and prepare a proper Council worthy of the return of David Marlin!
