Sallust: this will hopefully be the first of many such interviews
Sallust: aimed at helping all people learn about the souls of the people on Rubi-Ka
Juri nods
Juri: I think it's a good way to cut through the bigotry and ignorance that many have about the diversity of the citizenry on Rubi-Ka
Sallust: So can you start with a few biographical facts about yourself that people might like to know?
Sallust coughs
Juri: Well...
Juri: I'm not a native to Rubi-Ka. I was born in the Novgorad Arcology back on Old Earth...
Sallust: Jake "Juri" Russi, Solitus male of the Clans
Juri: I moved here to make a new home and when I arrived I knew only some of the conflict brewing here...
Sallust: what caused you to join the Clans when you arrived?
Juri: But, for specific reasons, beyond just the principle belief in independent self-soverignty and self-accountability, I chose to join the Clans and help promote the values that now, unfortunately, seem long lost to constant war.
Sallust: in specific, what values are they that you're trying to promote?
Juri: The principles of Integrity. That means placing repectful value in not only yourself but also those around you. One of our greatest shortcommings is falling victim to our own selfish designs.
Juri: Also...
Juri: The value of Tolerance. Far too often, the beleaguered citizenry here, places far too much stock in shotgun diplomacy. It only exacerbates the conflict and does nothing to ensure any future but one of destruction. When people only communicate with violence, then the future is inevitably destroyed.
Sallust: and how does this relate to the new Clan you've chosen to lead, Clan Veritas?
Juri nods
Juri: Currently, there is no strong banner for those Clanners that choose to relate to the rest of Rubi-Ka with a sense of reason rather than a sense of vindictive brutality.
Sallust nods
Sallust: does Veritas seek to become a new rallying point for the Clans then?
Juri nods
Juri: I intend to raise a banner for those that agree in a more thoughtful and moderate way of ensuring a cooperative future.
Sallust: how do you expect to rally the Clans behind diplomacy when even the large Clan Terra Firma was chased into obscuirty by the Sentinel invasion of Tir?
Juri: Well, you've made a good point there, Sallust. The more moderate clans have not disentegrated, merely scattered. They need a voice that will encourage them to come together again in their ideals of ensuring a less violent way of life.
Juri: Toward that end...
Juri: I will be working on having a local and more tolerant militia installed in Tir to replace the more zealous Sentinels. There is no reason for the Sentinels to be representative of the clans by their intolerant treatment of all who pass thorugh a city that was once home to many voices, not just the most brutal ones.
Sallust: now for the loaded question, what do you think of Radiman's proposal towards replacing the Council of Truth or reinstating it?
Sallust: and can you tell us what actions you plan on taking in regards to the Tir city issue?
Juri: Well, I will support Radiman's decision to re-instate the Council. I believe that the Council did some vital and progressive things for the clans. If nothing else, at least it was a representative voice for the diversity of the clans.
Juri: As for my actions in removing the Sentinels, I plan to rally as much support as possible in an effort to show the detriment that their street-level politics cause. As for specifics, it starts with the voice of choice. We have a better way available here, it's merely a matter of garnering support for that better way.
Sallust: do you believe Clan militants or peace lovers are more organized currently?
Sallust: and do you have any take on the Old Athen Restoration project among the Clans?
Juri: Defintely the militants. But mostly because those of us that wish to enact peaceful resolutions have no banner under wich to flock. I have raised the banner of Veritas specifically for that purpose. Ironically enough, it is the Neutrals who adhere more closely to clan doctrine than the Clans themselves at present.
Juri: As for the Old Athen Restoration Project, I think it's a splendid way to promote clan solidarity. For the first time in a long time, the Clans will be engaged in building something up rather than tearing something down.
Sallust: Have you had much contact with the inhabitants of the Shadowlands and their conflict which involves both the Clans and Omni-Tek?
Juri: The Old Athen project is more than a symbol for solidarity and cooperation however, as it will stand as a tangible mark as to the Clan's ability to act with conscious creativity.
Juri: I have ventured only sparingly into the shadowlands. I have heard some of its lore and seen some of its primal elements, but as of yet, I cannot account myself a tested explorer of this Point of Origin.
Sallust: so you have no knowledge of the influence of Redeemed and Unredeemed forces on the current conflict?
Juri: I do have a precarious grasp on understanding the forces of the Redeemed and the Unredeemed. However, I'd like to point out that even given the primal elements at work inthe Shadowlands, that I have never believed the conflict that rages on Rubi-ka, and for that matter, the conflict that has plagued us since the dawn of time, has anythign to do with "sides" or "affliation". It's about people. Plan and simple. It's the choices we make as individuals that define our character. In fact, to quote a long lost author: "Character is Fate".
Sallust: do you have any other final messages to my readers that you'd like to make?
Juri: Just one. There's only two things more common on Rubi-Ka than notum. And we fight over these two things with more fervor and passion than anything else yet encountered. Those two things are Ignorance and Pride. Once we begin to recognize value in something other than these two things, we will have a path to a much brighter future, and not just one filled with immutable and unending war.
